DC Salsa Dance Instructor: Olu Yemisi

Olu Yemisi ,an award winning dancer and choreographer, produces fantastic performances. Olu Yemisi and Company Dancers performs at festivals, concerts, and events. They perform Caribbean dance, Latin dance, Salsa, Rueda, Merengue, Carnival, and African dances. She was awarded three 2005 Latin Dance Awards which include Dance Group of the Year, Instructor of the Year, and Salsera of the Year. She is also the winner of the 2002 Amtrak Salsa Competition.

Olu Yemisi is the director and founder of Dance With Me DC and Olu Yemisi & Company Dancers. Dancing and choreography are her passion. She has taught dance for over 7 years.Olu Yemisi teaches Caribbean, Latin, African, Hip Hop, Theater Dance, and original choreography. She is also an artistic director and choreographer for performing artist. Her master classes and performances have been held at institutions such as the University of the District of Columbia, and the University of Maryland.

Olu Yemisi produces events and educational programs that focus on the dances as well as the history of the dance and the music. The programs include dances from many cultures. Presentations also consist of dance demonstrations, theater, workshops, and audience participation. The dances are performed to live or recorded Jazz and polyrhythms.

Olu Yemisi's background also includes partner dancing, cultural programs, as well as gospel and choral music traditions. She has performed at various festivals. She competed in International Ballroom dancing, and has performed with cultural groups in the Washington D.C. Metropolitan area.

Olu Yemisi's dance workshops and classes are currently held in the Washington D.C. Metropolitan area. She is available for shows, and workshops abroad.
